When shopping for a used car, you may consider a certified pre-owned vehicle. There are many cost-saving benefits to choosing a certified pre-owned vehicle rather than a new car. But before you consider a certified pre-owned car, do your homework. Often touted as a used-car option that brings peace of mind, the pre-owned certification may give you a false sense of security if you don't know the facts. Here are some things you should ask before you purchase a certified used car:
  • Who will certify? It's best to go with factory-backed pre-owned cars, rather than those backed only by the dealership. Factory certification requirements are much stricter than those of a dealer and generally allow you to have your car repaired at nationwide locations, as opposed to one particular dealership. You'll also have the peace of mind of a broad manufacturer's warranty, rather than just an extended warranty. Be sure to read the warranty closely so you know what's covered and what isn't.
  • Which car company has the best certified pre-owned program? Some factory-backed programs are better than others. Aside from looking closely at the warranty, ask about special financing, roadside assistance programs and return policies.3
  • What kind of inspection took place? Ask for a copy of the inspection list so you know exactly what's been checked on the vehicle. It's also good to know the maintenance history of the certified pre-owned car you're considering.
  • How does the car drive? Just like buying a new vehicle, it's important to schedule a test drive so you can really experience the pre-owned car for yourself. It's also a good chance to make sure everything is working correctly.
A certified used vehicle can be an excellent choice if you want to save over a new model. Just be sure to do a little research ahead of time, and read the fine print.

5 Myths About Renting a Car Categories

With the holiday season coming up, there will, no doubt, be a lot of people traveling to see family and friends. With that being said, there will also be a lot of people heading to the nearest rental car agency so that they can get the best deal for their money. After all, why put those extra miles on your own vehicle? So, here are five car rental myths to keep in mind:
  1. Ditch the Collision Coverage: Regardless of what you think collision coverage benefits you more than it benefits the rental company. How? For a small, additional cost you’ll be protected against any type of accident versus paying the deductible on your insurance for the same repair which could actually end up costing you more especially if the car ends up in the shop.
  2. Renting on the Weekend is Better: Not true! For instance, Triangle Rent A Car offers competitive, reasonable rental rates all the time and not just on the weekend. In addition we have other opportunities for savings depend on your particular needs or group rentals.
  3. Taxes are the Fault of the Rental Car Company: State and local government agencies (like airports) basically have found a great way to generate revenue by mandating taxes on car rental bills. These taxes ultimately generate funds for airport improvements or to subsidize projects that the renters may never get to enjoy.
  4. Flexibility in Returning Your Car: Rental clocks are 24 hour clocks so it’s best to return the car on time or early. You will actually get charged for time beyond the determined time that was established at the beginning of the rental period.
  5. Anyone Can Drive: If you let someone who’s not included in the rental contract drive the vehicle and something happens then you’re in danger of voiding the rental contract.

Carsystems, motorside and motorpoint to Rent a Car?

There are three requirements to rent a car from most national car rental chains: a valid driver's license, a credit or debit card, and a minimum age requirement. Some smaller rental companies may have fewer restrictions.

Minimum Age Requirement

The minimum age requirement is usually between 21 and 25. Some companies, such as Hertz, charge an additional fee for renters under 25 years of age.

Credit or Debit Card

A credit or debit card will be required at the time that you pick up the vehicle. Make sure that the card used has additional funds available because the rental company will authorize and hold additional funds for incidentals such as mileage overages and gas. These funds range from $100 to $300 depending on the rental company's policies.

Driver's License

You will be asked to present your driver's license and can expect a photocopy to be made at the time of your rental. All rental companies require a valid driver's license.

Insurance

The car rental company does not require that you have car insurance, but will try to sell you theirs. Call your car insurance agent or provider to inquire if it transfers to a rental vehicle.

Renting under someone else

If you are wondering whether you can bypass requirements by renting under someone else's name, the answer is generally no. The rental company requires information about anyone who will be driving the car, and assuming someone else's name could mean serious problems should you be involved in an accident. Most rental companies will allow someone to make a payment for them, but they still require a credit or debit card from the primary renter.

BMW RZ-M6 Concept – First Look

Tuners Racer X Designs have taken on BMW’s classic racing heritage and given it a new look with their RZ-M6 Concept. Racer X renderings show off a hardcore BMW racing attitude with violent curves to the front end and rear of this vehicle. Reminds us of the new Mustang body, but with a lot more meanness and some fine German engineering. Check out more with the Racer X Design press release below.

Racer X Design Press Release -
Inspired by the earlier generation E24 6 series, the RZ-M6 captures the stylish and aggressive looks of the older generations of BMW’s and puts them in the current 6 series . This is what the current 6 series could look like, by replacing body panels, yet keeping the basic structure intact. The body is 50mm wider to offer wider rubber for better grip.

The current M6 already offers a high level of performance, with upgrades for even more power available worldwide. The RZ-M6 is designed to show how a 6 series should look like to reflect that pedigree. While aggressive, it’s not over the top, keeping the lines of the current M6 structure flowing and factory like. It’s not a boy racer’s car, it’s more mature, more elegant, yet not to be messed with. All this was evident in the older generation BMW’s. This is a tribute to the E24 6 series.

Started as a small independent body styling company, Racer X Design has a history of designing and building conversions based on top of existing cars for competitions, togather with designing cars and such conversions for international clients. We are looking for partners who have the same passion for the BMW brand and would like to see the RZ-M6 hit production. For more information go to www.racerxdesign.com

History of the E24 6 series: The early BMW sport coupes had monumental performance and style with the added luxury of design and technology. Showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1976, the 6 Series E24 sport coupes were the successor to the E9 3.0 CSi coupe. The coupe tradition in the early and mid seventies had been so widely successful, that BMW decided the era of 1965-75 coupes needed a successor. Transferring the tradition and image created by BMW with beautiful models like the 2000 C/CS and the 3.0-3.5 CS/CSi/CSL coupes, the E24 coupe captured this same image and effect. The E24 635 CSi touring car was BMWs entrant in Group A touring car racing from 1983 until the introduction of the BMW M3 in 1986.
